Fire Pumps & Pump Rooms
Sprinklers and hydrants are only as strong as the pump behind them. A pump that won't start, or a diesel engine with a flat battery, turns the whole system into decoration.
We build pump rooms that start on their own, deliver the design pressure and keep running even when the power is cut – and we test them every week under AMC.
of every water-based fire system – if the pump fails, everything fails
If the pump fails, everything fails
Sprinklers, hydrants and hose reels all depend on the pump room. Fire pumps must start automatically, deliver the design pressure and keep running even during a power cut – which is why a diesel standby pump and a proper controller are essential.
How the pump room keeps pressure
Tap any part of the drawing to see what it does.
- 01The jockey pump holds the system at pressure
- 02On demand, the electric pump starts automatically
- 03If power or the electric pump fails, the diesel pump takes over

Pump room technologies
Jockey pump
Small pump that keeps the system pressurised and makes up minor leaks – so main pumps don't start unnecessarily.
Electric main pump
Starts automatically when pressure drops, with a dedicated, protected power supply.
Diesel standby pump
Independent of mains power – starts if the electric pump fails or power is lost.
Listed controllers
Automatic start on pressure drop, manual-only stop, with alarms for run, fault and battery.
Weekly churn tests
Pumps run weekly; flow tests annually confirm the performance curve.
Everything in the scope
Electric, diesel and jockey pump sets
Pump controllers and auto-start
Suction/delivery headers and valves
Pressure tanks and gauges
Weekly run tests and maintenance
Why our pump rooms start every time
Duty and pressure from hydraulic calculations.
Pumps, controllers, pipework, valves and wiring by one team.
Flow test at handover against the pump curve.
Scheduled churn tests and diesel maintenance.

Questions we answer on the survey
- What do you need now, and what can wait?
- How will it connect to the systems you already have?
- What will it cost to run and maintain each year?
- Which local rules and inspections apply to your site?
